This month's awesome artist spotlight goes to the talented cosplayer Aritosca!! Check out some gorgeous work and learn more below!!
So, where are you from?
I’m from New England but right now I live in Pennsylvania
How did you end up at a convention or event in your first cosplay? What was it?
I ended up going to my first convention with my college anime club because they got funding to pay for our tickets and hotel room! My first cosplay I started for it was Berserk Ryuko from Kill La Kill
What do you think has been the greatest change in the community since you’ve started cosplaying?
I think since I’ve started cosplaying there’s a lot more push towards being “the best” and looking better than everyone else. There’s also a lot more people trying to turn their cosplays into a profitable activity for themselves with patreon and Ko-fi (Which is fine!). It just feels like more of a shift away from cosplaying for fun which is why I do it and how I really got into it.
Who are your head cannon cosplays?
I’ve had a lot of people tell me I’m their headcannon for Underfell Mettaton. I think it's because I was one of the first people to start cosplaying the AU design.
Which cosplay has provided you with the most challenge so far? Which one has been the most rewarding?
My most challenging cosplay has been Underfell Mettaton just because I had to learn a lot of new skills like face-painting and incorporating lights to complete it. Reward wise, I think Guts is my favorite/most rewarding cosplay I’ve completed. He’s one of my favorite characters so it was just really significant to me to be able to cosplay him
What is your favorite convention to attend and why?
My favorite convention has to be Magfest! I feel like its a lot more laid back and there’s always activities/videogames/panels that I’m interested in all day, every day
What are your hobbies outside of cosplaying?
I love painting, reading, cooking, photography, and playing video games. Cosplay is nice for me because I’m kind of able to combine all my hobbies into one
How do you balance cosplay with everyday life?
At the moment it's a little difficult for me since I’m in school but I always find a little time here and there to work on things because it makes me happy. Even just spending a couple hours a week working on building/sewing something or finding things I can complete while still studying and completing classwork
Is there anything else you want to tell people thinking about stepping into the world of cosplay?
Please have fun! You can cosplay whoever you want it doesn’t matter what your race/gender/body type is, you can cosplay! It doesn’t matter if someone else is more popular or looks better than you, at the end of the day as long as you enjoy yourself that’s what’s most important
Where can we find you on social media or check out some of your work?
